Rhinoplasty Surgery Procedure in Malaysia
There are 6 steps involved such as:
Step 1: Anaesthesia
Either intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia will be administered for your comfort during the surgery.
Step 2: The Incision
There are 2 types of incisions used. The surgeon will either use a closed procedure where incisions are hidden inside the nose or an open procedure, where the incision is made across the columella, the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. The skin that covers the nasal bones and cartilage is gently raised, making it easier to reshape the structure of the nose.
Step 3: Reshaping the Nose Structure
An overly large nose may be reduced by removing bone or cartilage. Sometimes, surgery of the nose may need the addition of cartilage grafts. Usually, the cartilage from the septum, the partition in the middle of the nose, is used but sometimes cartilage from the ear or even a section of the rib cartilage is used though rarely.
Step 4: Correcting a Wilted Septum
If the septum is wilted, it can be straightened and the projections inside the nose are reduced to improve breathing.
Step 5: Closing the Incision
Once the underlying structure of the nose is sculpted to the desired shape, nasal skin and tissue are redraped and incisions are closed.
Step 6: See the Results
For a few days, splints and gauze packing will support the nose as it starts to heal.
